Oswestry Library, Shropshire
The theme at the new children's library, reflects the towns historic border castle.
A castellated wall with central towers and large gates form the entrance to the children's area, which then leads onto a 'pebble' pathway.
The central area has an ivy covered castle with flag, seating, characters in the windows + crouching dragon. Additional features include flying dragons and heraldic shields designed by local children.

Swinton Community Library
Cows, horses, sheep, pigs, dog, cat and goat all feature in Farmyard Fun along with numerous wild animals and birds in this welcoming area for young readers.
The area also features a stables 'listening station' where children can hear CD stories, a pond work table with lily pad seats and colourful farm machinery. An MLA project.

Wath Community Library
The Enchanted Forest Theme is a commission which forms part of the MLA Yorkshire Project 'Creating Audiences, Changing Lives'.
The theme includes a central fairytale castle with seating, a listening tower (shown), colourful dragon kinder boxes, characters including knights, wizard and flying baby dragons.

Kinsley Library
A gorilla with a banana, two flying parrots, a toucan, a dragonfly, a giraffe with a monkey on his back,
elephant, leopard and zebra kinder boxes, a lemur with a children's library sign, hanging vines and a giant
snake along the top of the shelving, all form part of the rainforest at Kinsley's new library.

Great Malvern Library
The extension and refurbishment of this impressive Edwardian building includes a large children's library with feature Animania! canal boat, based on colourful boats on the nearby River Severn.
Features for young readers to discover include front facing book boxes, characters peering through windows, name plate for children's suggested name and seating. |

Rochester Library
Artwork panels for bay ends and kinder box decoration draw on the nearby Medieval Castle in the town.
Two cheerful Norman characters guard their towers and hold shields reflecting the heraldry of Rochester. Two colourful dragon panels extend the theme.

The Library, St. Mary's Community Centre, Pontefract
The purpose of this commission in a
newly opened library is to clearly identify
the children's section using a magical theme. Scenes depict children reading under a story tree, a dragon and it's treasure,
flying baby dragons, a winged horse and a seated griffin. A Surestart funded project. |

Maltby Library, Rotherham.
The children's library was transformed into
a formal garden populated by animals, birds and fish including a peacock, a swan, a fox, goats, a badger and rabbits.
To maximise the visual impact and ensure the safety of young children the area was enclosed inside a themed boundry with
a single 'pagoda' entrance.

York Central Library
The refurbishment of this large children's library involved the creation of a colourful, jungle
environment. Trees and vines are home to a variety of animals. Around the room you can find a gorilla, an elephant, an ocelot,
several monkeys and parrots, an anteater, a tiger and a hippo. A project funded by City of York Council and Chartwell Land. |

The Cottage Library, Surestart, Chapeltown, Leeds
This is a new Surestart library specifically aimed at children under five. The theme draws on nursery rhymes and fairy
tales. A central cottage includes book storage and seating and around the room children can find 'Five Little Ducks',
'Hickory Dickory Dock', 'Mary Mary', 'Jack and Jill', 'Little Red Riding Hood' and 'Billy Goats Gruff' to name
but a few. |

Animania! has worked on over 60 library commissions. Themes have included
'Underwater Creatures', 'Animals Around the World', 'Rainforest Wildlife and Foliage', 'Nursery Rhymes' and 'Mythical Beasts'.
We are always keen to explore new ideas which help children get the most out of their library.
